One of our core values is to “Be Safe, Not Sorry” and this Policy will outline our Health and Safety Management Plan to provide a happy, healthy and safe workplace with an aim of zero harm in the workplace. We will cultivate a positive and inclusive safety culture where all workers have rights and responsibilities. Our aim is to have a proactive Health and Safety culture as part of a broader organisational culture based on mutual trust and respect.
To achieve this we will:
- Demonstrate management commitment to Health, Safety and Well Being
- Encourage worker engagement and participation in Health, Safety & Well Being matters
- Provide avenues for worker representation and feedback on our processes
- Ensure the timely reporting and investigation of all incidents including incidents, accidents, near misses and property damage
- Maintain a robust hazard management system and risk register
- Ensure all workers have access to Health & Safety information electronically
- Prevent and control hazards so far as reasonably practicable using the Hierarchy of Controls, with a focus on Above the Line controls (and PPE as a last line of defence)
- Provide education, training and supervision for all workers
- Encourage workers to take leadership and champion Health, Safety and Well Being
- Reassess our Health and Safety Management regularly system to ensure it is practical and up to date
- Co-operate, coordinate and communicate with other PCBU
- Abide by relevant legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and associated Regulations as well as following industry Best Practice Guidelines
Our commitment to our workers is to lead from the front, set an example and ensure each and every one worker goes home to family/whanau in the same (or better) condition than they came to work in.
